Overview
Maharashtra state is considered to have led a pioneering effort in settling community forest resource rights and providing supportive policies to CFRR title holding villages. ATREE’s work in Maharashtra has primarily been focused on research and policy outreach.
Research: Development of methodologies for estimating potential areas that can be claimed under CFRR provisions. Evaluation of community forest resource management plans and their social, economic and ecological impact in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
Policy Outreach: Active engagement with Maharashtra state-level administration, Tribal Department, and CSO network on issues related to community forest rights.
Geospatial Tech: Developing maps for potential CFRR areas in the state, along with provision of need-based WebGIS support to CSO network organizations.
