This training was organized by the Dhimarkheda Sub-Divisional Level Committee (SDLC) on the instructions of the Katni District Collector, with ATREE providing technical support. The aim was to build understanding of Community Rights (CR) and CFRR under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, and to correct technical and procedural errors found in the 75 CFRR claims prepared so far in the block.

Representatives from 22 villages took part, including Forest Rights Committee chairpersons, sarpanchs, beat guards, patwaris, tehsildars, and forest range officers.

The training covered the basic provisions of the Forest Rights Act, the concept and importance of CR and CFRR, the process for preparing and submitting claims (including Form-B for CR and Form-C for CFRR), and the role of the Gram Sabha and Forest Rights Committee in identifying and documenting traditional boundaries. Participants also received hands-on training on the CFR Web GIS tool (for viewing revenue boundaries, identifying forest compartments, and calculating claim area) and the Amcho CFR App for GPS-based mapping.

A follow-up technical review was held at the SDM office, where some claims were examined using GIS. The SDM assured that corrections would begin soon for one village’s claim and agreed to extend the same process to others, with departmental support to improve claim quality. She noted she had not received formal SDLC training herself but committed to active cooperation with relevant departments.

ATREE’s Manish Singh (District Coordinator) and Maruti Atram (Senior Coordinator) conducted the training.
