Training of trainers workshop on Community Forest Resource (CFR) rights in Telangana

Dr. Sharachchandra Lele and Dr. Shruti Mokashi were invited as resource persons for a three-day workshop from 10-12 January in Hyderabad on the Community Forest Resource (CFR) rights claiming process. It was co-organized by Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) and the Tribal Welfare Department of Telangana to scale up CFR implementation in Telangana.
Thirty participants from four CSOs – Centre for People’s Forestry (CPF), Centre for Collective Development (CCD), Conservation of Nature through Rural Awakening (CONARE), and Rural Development Trust (RDT) – participated in the workshop. Dr. Lele provided a background on the Forest Rights Act, its objectives, and main provisions, and also led discussions on the important steps in the CFR claim-making process. Dr. Mokashi demonstrated the use of mobile-based GPS apps for mapping traditional village boundaries as part of the CFR claim process.
