The Baiga Chak team conducted a one-day workshop for Forest Department staff on  23rd November 2023. Staff members of Samnapur Forest Range and members of  Forest Right Committees participated in the workshop. The main focus of the  workshop was on training the forest department on wall-to-wall mapping and  simplified claim-making in forest villages. Steps and formats of Individual and  Community Forest rights claims were discussed in detail. Participants shared their  experiences and asked questions about the provisions of the FRA in forest villages.  The role of the Forest Department is important in both Individual and Community  Forest rights claims. Officials of the Samnapur Range office assured Forest Right  Committees of timely support during the claim-making process.

After researching discrepancies in Individual and Community Forest Rights titles  issued in Dindori, ATREE is providing handholding support to the Forest Rights  Committees (FRCs) of two forest villages initially. Both villages have prepared  Individual and Community Forest Rights claims. Individual Forest Rights titles have  been issued in one village. The team is working on testing a new mobile-based  ArcGIS application in the third village that will make comprehensive mapping simple  for FRCs. Learnings from the work in the first two villages were shared with the  Forest Department.
