Successful Completion of Seven Block-Level Training Workshops on Community Forest Resource Management in Bastar District
Date: April 2026
Seven block-level training workshops on Community Forest Resource (CFRMP) Management have been successfully completed in Bastar district. These workshops were organized by the District Administration across seven blocks: Jagdalpur, Bastar, Bakawand, Lohandiguda, Tokapal, Darbha, and Bastanar.
ATREE played a significant role as a facilitator and trainer throughout the program.
The primary objective of these workshops was to build a comprehensive understanding of Community Forest Resource management under the Forest Rights Act 2006. Key topics covered included the roles and responsibilities of the Gram Sabha under Section 5 of the Act, the formation of Community Forest Resource Management Committees (CFRMCs), and the responsibilities of these committees. Participants were also guided through the essential steps required to prepare an effective Community Forest Resource Management Plan.
In addition, the workshops emphasized financial management practices. Participants were oriented on how Gram Sabhas and their committees can manage finances effectively, including operating bank accounts. Gram Sabhas that had not yet opened bank accounts were advised to do so promptly to access financial support from the Tribal Welfare Department, Bastar district.
The training programs were attended by members of CFRMCs, Panchayat Secretaries, Gram Sabha Presidents, and representatives from various civil society organizations working in the region. In total, around 500 participants were trained through these workshops.
