Training Programmes on Community Forest Resource Rights for District and Divisional Officials, Madhya Pradesh

Sharachchandra Lele (Distinguished Fellow, ATREE) conducted two training programmes on Community Forest Resource Rights (CFRRs) in eastern Madhya Pradesh on 10 and 11 June 2026. The programmes were organised by the Divisional Commissioners of the Rewa and Shahdol revenue divisions respectively. Participants included Collectors, Divisional Forest Officers, Assistant Commissioners of Tribal Welfare, and Zilla Panchayat CEOs from 6 districts (Rewa division) and 3 districts (Shahdol division). Dr Lele covered the rationale for community forest rights, the types of CFRRs and common confusions surrounding them, the process of filing CFRR claims, and the roles and responsibilities of Sub-Division Level and District Level Committees.
